I’m looking forward to collaborating again with Gene Felice’s Coaction Lab for the 1708 InLight 2022 exhibition in Richmond, VA. We will be revisiting our explorations of a floating, projection performance space to be installed on Youngs Pond in Bryan Park, near the dam by Hermitage Road. With input from the Riverine Chapter of the Virginia Master Naturalists, we will include imagery and sounds of the park’s native flora and fauna. This will also include a look into the microorganisms and algae that live in Youngs Pond and the effects of human development and climate change on the organisms that live with and depend upon us. Gene is bringing his Coaction Lab which is equipped with a trinocular microscope, two 9K NEC video projectors, a Bose S1 Pro wireless audio system, and a solar-powered, lithium-ion battery system, providing an “off the grid” power source.
Special thanks for support and generous backing from 1708 Gallery sponsors, ArtsGreensboro, Arts Council of Winston-Salem & Forsyth County, the North Carolina Arts Council, and the Dance Project 2022-23 Artists in Residence program.
